Nestled in the hills above Santa Barbara, El Encanto underwent a total renovation project before relaunching as a Belmond property. Ownership needed to raise funds, but first they had to achieve the impossible. To have the property appear as a luxury retreat despite gutted rooms, grounds that were dug-up, and construction dust everywhere. Mission accomplished? You decide.
